Q: I'm looking to plunge into the world of juicing and would like to purchase a budget-friendly, easy-clean juicer for my small kitchen. I am wondering if you may have any suggestions on what brands or characteristics to look for when looking!

Editor: Megan, Emily has reviewed two great juicers; these might be good places to start:
• Product Review: Hurom Slow Juicer - Her current pick.
• Product Review: Breville Juice Fountain Compact
The Hurom juicer has been racking up great reviews but it is much pricier — over $300. The Breville juicer is also a good pick, and it is only about $100.
Those are just two juicers, though — the ones we have complete reviews for.
Readers, what juicer do you own, and do you like it? What would you look for in a new one?

I have a Moulinex juicer (don't think it is available in the US) and my biggest complaint is that the blade/strainer part is so hard to clean and that the pieces are white so that after a while they become slightly stained from the juice. A Mr Clean Magic Eraser type sponge seems to take much of the color off but there are some small cracks where I can't clean easily. So if this is a concern for you, get a black one! And clean it right away to make the cleaning process easier.
i have an omega 1000 that is pretty easy to clean!
I did a whole post on how to juice with it, if you wanna take a look. I just soak the parts in a bowl of hot sudsy water at the end and it's a snap!!

we have a champion juicer that is amazing. we got it from a Craigslist seller for $100. It was in great condition.
I recently got the Breville fountain after reading millions of reviews and asking everyone I knew for suggestions, and I don't regret it. I have a tiny kitchen and no dishwasher, so I can definitely testify to both compactness and ease of cleaning. And it's certainly a powerful little guy, too!
I have the Breville compact juicer and I love it. It is easy to clean and doesn't take up much space. I use a stiff kitchen brush to clean the blade. It was under $100. I use it every morning for beet, cucumber, apple and ginger juice. I am addicted!
Freecycle. This is an appliance that people often buy - use for a while then put in the garage.
I juice almost everyday but before I invest on a pricier model I got an inexpensive Hamilton Beach for $30. It's not the easiest to clean but it does the job well and takes up very little space.
Another Breville here BB&B carries them use the 20% off coupon. Also, you could pick up a slightly used one, people get on the juicing kick for 6 months and never use their juicer again.
I highly recommend getting the book-The Juicing Bible- full of great nutritional information and wide range of recipes.
The one I got that is very budget friendly was a Hamilton Beach juicer for $39.99 and it's quite nice.
The Omega VRT350 and 330 are rebadged Hurom juicers.
They are masticating juicers so they're extremely easy to clean.
The advantage of going with Omega is that it has a full 10 year warrantee and the Hurom does not.
I also have a Breville compact ($102 at Amazon) and love it! I use it at least once a day, it's easy to clean, and does a great job. I had done a lot of research, compared reviews, etc. I highly recommend the Breville, but you might want to figure out if you'd rather a masticating juicer (most will handle wheatgrass, leafy greens, but pricey) or a centrifugal juice (like the Breville: fast juicing, cheaper, but doesn't handle wheatgrass or leafy greens as well, and does introduce some air into the juice which can spoil some of the healthy goodness faster) - there's comparative info here: http://www.harvestessentials.com/whatjuicisri.html
I also recommend The Juicing Bible as someone mentioned - Great info!! Happy juicing!!
