Q: In an attempt to declutter the kitchen I have removed the various photos and notes that accumulate on the refrigerator over time. Our fridge is black and the solid dark surface seems a little much, but I don't want to go back to the clutter.
Does anyone know of a company that sells large decorative magnets? Not necessarily something that will cover the entire surface — I'm thinking some sort of large swirl or flower design? A refrigerator accessory, if you will. I've searched online but haven't found what I'm looking for.

Editor: Elise, yes, we actually have seen quite a lot of refrigerator decals lately! Search for "decal" or "graphics" — they'll generally be vinyl, not magnets. See the list below for a few Etsy shops that carry them.

Wonderful! I knew something like this must exist, I just didn't know where to find it. Thanks so much!
I'd love to see pictures of readers' pretty refrigerators for inspiration... :)
Vinyl might be difficult to stick to a textured fridge surface. If you're feeling crafty there are some online printing shops that print large, thin magnets for vehicle decals. You could design a group of swirls and flowers and then cut them out with scissors or an exacto knife.
If you're feeling crafty, you can also get colored shelf liner/contact paper and cut out what you want with an Xacto knife. A friend does that on her walls and it always looks amazing!
I dressed up my fridge using this craft featured on Design*Sponge : http://www.designspongeonline.com/2007/10/diy-wednesdays.html
I used craft foam instead of felt to get the colors I wanted but it was CHEAP and looks cute and sharp. I just used a roll of adhesive magnet and attached a piece to each piece of craft foam that I cut out. Really easy and I am really happy with how it looks.
You should ask Shelley over at www.houseofsmiths.blogspot.com . I think her shop is called wonderfully wordy.
She does AMAZING things with vinyl... you should have seen the vinyl decals for her kitchen aid mixers! And the thing I love about vinyl? It is removeable! And her prices are VERY reasonable! Plus, she is VERY knowledgable on all things vinyl.
I have a very similar pattern in the photo posted. I used just a plane decal from Target. I was really lucky, no bubbles or peeling. It is on a stainless fridge.
If the whole point was to declutter, maybe try leaving it plain for a while and see if you get used to it. Fridge decals look super cluttered, to my eye.
If you have your heart set on something magnetic instead of vinyl, AND feel crafty, you can generally find rolls of thin magnetic sheets at Michael's or another crafting supply store. It will have adhesive on one side, and super thin magnet on the other. If you find vinyl that you like, you might be able to stick it to the magnet sheet and cut it out with an X-acto knife. That way, you don't have to actually design it, but still get the removable/completely reusable magnet. Did that make ANY sense? lol
So many great ideas! Thanks so much, I'm looking forward to this new project now :)
