Q: I'm hosting a very casual Thanksgiving dinner and was thinking about making some small party favors to give to my guests.
Any suggestions of something easy, fall-ish and cute?

Editor: Caytie, here's one idea from last year:
• Thanksgiving Treat: Blessings Snack Mix - A lot of readers weren't crazy about the specifics of this particular mix, but you could certainly adapt this in some other way.
You could also make something edible: pumpkin cookies, fudge, toffee! Wrap up in little brown paper bags and tie with a pretty ribbon.
Readers, any more ideas for Caytie?

You could give out flowering bulbs... Daffodils, narcissus, crocuses. They get planted in the fall, would be pretty cheap, and would even workin pots for people in apartments.
MY friend had a fall dinner once (not Thanksgiving) and made small bags of spices for mulling wine as favors.
She purchased some themed fabric, sewed them up (three sides) in a simple bag, and tied it with a ribbon. Even if you didn't use it to mull wine, it was kind of like a sachet or potpourri.
very cute idea with the bulbs! never would have thought of that.
For edibles, I think a baggie of homemade slated caramels would be swanky and nice (feels fall to me) or maybe make up those cute hot chocolate on a stick and wrap them in cellophane to give each guest. You could turn them into placecards too.
thats salted, not slated caramels!
There is a very simple, very Fall decoration of pine cones attached to a few thick pieces of ribbon. Use an orange or red ribbon. Hang them at different lengths. It's a very cute seasonal door decoration. Super easy and cheap. I think the original directions are on Martha Stewart so search her site.
Love the caramel idea and the mulled wine spices! Also thought of mini bottles of infused liquor, like a cinnamon-infused vodka. Those tiny pumpkins are always cute too if you want an easy route.
We have a celebration that goes into the wee hours of the morning. This year, I am planning on sending each guest home with a home-baked pastry to eat for breakfast.
On the bulb notion, last week I bought several "kits" at Lowe's -- one for each person/couple coming to my Thanksgiving dinner, and I started them. They may not be blooming by Thanksgiving, but they'll be on their way.
Lowe's had kits for Amaryllis and Narcissus. They came with a nice pot with little bumpers on the bottom, a clever potting mix "disk" that was easy to work with, and healthy looking bulbs -- all for just a few dollar each. I planted them the other day and they're coming along nicely.
cookies in a jar! you can get a dozen ball jars for really in expensive then you just add the appropriate amount of dry ingredients into the jar in layers, seal and add the recipe card with a ribbon.
