I have a challenge for gluten-free week! My friend's birthday is coming up but he can't eat gluten, sugar (honey is okay), yogurt (unless it's made by him), chocolate -- basically anything that would go into a cake. I'm left with fruit, honey, eggs, butter and almond flour. Anyone have any ideas for delicious birthday cakes? I'm lost! And I trust the Kitchn community to help :)

I assume fereni is similar to Afghan firnee. A local Afghani restaurant sells it and it is absolutely delicious.
