David Lebovitz encourages us to poach more pears! They'll get you through a fruit-less wintertime. Plus, bypass the pie for these pumpkin cinnamon rolls from King Arthur Flour.

ooohhh...pumpkin cinnamon rolls....(feeling like homer simpson here...)
Whoops - fixed!
I say add pumpkin to every dessert recipe you make during the fall! I'm making a pumpkin flan tonight....
Why oh why does my husband dislike pumpkin? I'd make the rolls, but then I'll have to eat them all!
Making poached fruits and compotes this season has been making me very happy... it's a great way to use up fruit that's getting too soft. Yet another way to avoid wasting food -- I had a very bad habit of buying a pound of organic fruit and not getting through it all before it went into the compost bin. Now I put it in the slow cooker with honey and cinnamon and have it on my oatmeal in the mornings.
